A Christmas Story House — Cleveland Holiday Must See

The classic movie, “A Christmas Story,” released in November of 1983, has become quite a Cleveland story. The restored “Parker family house” along with a separate gift shop and bed and breakfast attracts some 200,000 visitors a year. They come from not just Northeast Ohio, but all over the world!

Having family or out-of-town friends visiting Cleveland?  Then consider it to be a must see destination. In fact, place a call to reserve a Platinum Party Bus, so you all can visit and ride together without the hassles of traffic congestion or parking.

When the century home on West 11th Street in Tremont was used in the classic Christmas story film, no one could have guessed what an impact it would have on the city. The house restored by the movie’s super fan, Brian Jones, had such a tremendous draw, that it almost single-handedly established “movie buff tourism” as a cottage industry in Cleveland. See the famous leg lamp, the sled, the coveted Red Ryder BB gun and so much more. Experience what it was like preparing for a visit from Santa pre-WWII.

What’s more, it’s not the only fun thing to see or do in the vibrant Tremont area of the City! Only a few blocks away is the West Side Market, a historic building, where for decades, generations of families have continued to operate stands selling meat, fish, bakery, dairy and poultry. And, outside the building, don’t miss the experience of bargaining with open air produce vendors.

Architecture in the area is also worth driving by – see the exterior of a former public bathhouse at Lincoln Park (now a plus urban residence) as well as many refurbished homes and churches. Iron Chef Michael Symon has his original restaurant, Lolita’s there, too! And don’t miss the area’s Cleveland script sign at 1502 Abbey Ave. Snap and take home a group picture with a backdrop of both industrial steel mills and downtown skyline.

There are plenty of bars and great restaurants in the Tremont area as well.  Urban street art is abundant as are local art/craft shops.  For friend and family fun during the holidays, you won’t want to miss touring the Christmas Story House and other Tremont sites in a chauffeured Platinum Party Bus.
