Jade Asian Fusion & Sushi Coming to Cleveland

Jade Asian Fusion

Jade Asian Fusion & Sushi Bar

All that glitters is not gold — Jade Asian Fusion & Sushi is HOT in Cleveland! This multiple level restaurant/club is set to open soon at 1048 Old River Rd. on the East Bank of the Flats!  Views alone will attract customers. A walk from side to side of the venue offers trains rumbling by, 5 different architectural bridges, boats cutting across the water, Whiskey Island, gulls swooping for food and FirstEnergy Stadium in the distance. All levels have 3 sliding barn doors to improve the views.

Zdenko Zovkic, previous owner of XO Prime Steaks, has spent 3½ years bringing this project to fruition—the longest of his career. It’s clear that Zovkic committed to crafting a complete experience from what’s seen through windows to what’s created in the kitchens (and note, there are kitchens on each floor).

There are three stories, each having a distinct vibe:

  • On the first floor, diners will delight at a sushi lounge with both authentic and traditional offerings as well as a creative and flavorful tapas-style menu. There’s an open kitchen sushi bar, too. The banana-filled wontons with chocolate on top of coconut pudding and chia seeds is finished with passionfruit molasses. Surely it’s one to be remembered by all who sample!
  • The second level offers more of a fine-dining experience. Vivid and distinctly oriental murals decorate the long walls while a bright blue-green wallpaper serves as a backdrop. Stunning and ornate chandeliers hang from the ceiling. There is both a main dining area and a private dining space that will accommodate 24. Feast on menu items like lobster tacos in fried gyoza wrappers or skewers of beef filet tips coated in Peruvian chili paste. Chefs Nicholas Fenske and Paul Inkyun Jung’s culinary fusions of Japanese and Korean flavors to form what Jung calls edible art “eat with your eyes, then nose, then mouth. That’s the kind of cuisine we work to create for our diners.”
  • The top floor is a membership lounge. Owner Zovkic has limited the number to 300 to be offered. Base prices start at $1,550. It is intended to be a respite from the Flats nightclubs. A place where members can mingle casually, network, converse and enjoy good food. Cabanas and patios are available outside.  Zovkic expects memberships to be a sell-out by mid-May.

Check out Jade on the East Bank this opening weekend.  And, to “take in” the city and all it has to offer this summer, without the hassles of driving, consider a Platinum Party Bus.
